left this month
One question, answered honestly
“How does my money stand this month, and where is it heading?” DebtShield answers it from the numbers you enter — nothing more, nothing sold.
The Safe Line
Your income is a bar; essentials fill it; what's left is your room. A line marks where basics are best kept under — so you see your month at a glance.
The year ahead
A transparent, seeded simulation runs your numbers across hundreds of possible months to estimate your chance of dipping into the red — and the single change that helps most. It shows its assumptions.
Compare
See how your rent, food, and energy line up with your county and the U.S., using public data — for perspective, never a target.
Ask
A deterministic assistant answers from your own figures — “why am I short?”, “how much do I keep?”, “how's my cushion?” It never invents numbers, and points you to free help when things are tight.
How it works — in three steps
Enter a few numbers
Your income and monthly essentials — rent or mortgage, food, energy, debt payments. No bank connection, no account. Rough numbers are fine.
See where you stand
Instantly, in plain dollars: what's left this month, a calm verdict, and your odds for the year ahead — with the biggest lever to change them.
Come back each month

Why it's different
Typical money apps

Common questions
Is it really private?
Yes. The numbers you enter are stored only on your device and are never uploaded. There's no server for your financial data, no analytics, and no tracking — it works fully offline, even in Airplane Mode. More on privacy.
Do I have to connect my bank?
No — and you can't. DebtShield never links to a bank or credit account. You type a few numbers yourself, which keeps it private and simple.
How much does it cost?
It's designed to be free for the people who use it — no ads, no subscriptions, and nothing to buy inside the app. Organizations can sponsor access for the people they serve.
Where do the comparison numbers come from?
Public U.S. data, bundled inside the app: rent and income from the Census Bureau, energy from the EIA, and food from the BLS. They're broad averages for perspective, never a target. See the sources.
Does the “Ask” feature use AI that sees my data?
No. Ask is deterministic — it computes every figure from your own numbers on your device and never sends anything to a server or guesses. It won't invent numbers, and it points you to free help for anything that needs a real person.
Is this financial advice?
No. DebtShield is educational information about your own month, with cited public data — not financial, legal, tax, or housing advice, and it doesn't promise any outcome. For decisions, it points you to free, reputable help like 211 and HUD-approved counselors.
